Dr. Conant is a Duke University and UC educated physician. He is a Clinical Professor at Emeritus University of California, San Francisco.
In 1981, Dr. Conant opened the first multidisciplinary AIDS Clinic in the world. The following year, he started the organization that would become the San Fransisco AIDS Foundation. In 1982, he publicly warned the blood banks that they should screen donors to reduce the risk of transfusion associated with AIDS.
Blood Bank physicians did not listen and as a result, 29,000 Americans were infected with the AIDS virus. In the late 1980s, as these cases surfaced Conant testified in 16 trials and 110 depositions in support of patients infected with AIDS.
Conant has long been a patient advocate and is delighted to serve on the Board of Lance Capital to help injured patients have their day in court.
